Auto-fill shipping weight

I might be late to this show, but just an FYI for those who didnt know. Uline offers the DIM weight that Fedex goes by under the "additional info tab" per box size.

Thanks everyone for your votes, comments and patience on this request. We initially implemented this without examining all of the factors at play, and our initial release quickly showed us that our strategy did not play well with fixed-rate shipping. For those that use fixed-rate shipping, the autofill was not a great experience because it auto-opted in to calculated shipping due to quirks with certain channels.
I do think with a larger overhaul that we can successfully satisfy both needs, but this will be a larger project that we'll prioritize separately. For now, we've enabled the autocalculation only once the calculator button has been clicked - removing the one additional click needed for the blue calculate button within the popover.
Thank you again for your contributions here. I will leave this request open as we continue bringing more roadmap plans into Canny.

Totally a very helpful and time saving idea! I approve 100%. It would also help eliminate listing errors by listers assuming that shipping weight is the same as product weight or not realizing dim and shipping weight have a different meaning altogether (maybe wording “shipping weight” to Shipping/DIM or just DIM weight may help with confusions?) But having the option for that parameter to be automated would be one less listing step to worry about. GREAT IDEA! 👍

And if during the actual shipping process, if the box size has changed the NEW dim weight would coincide.

Julie Greco: Great callout - a quick note on current behavior: On the shipping page, if the box size changes and it's effective dimensional weight is greater than the value entered into the "Parcel Weight" field - the quoted shipping price will reflect the higher 'dimensional weight' of the larger box.
If the box size is a smaller dimensional weight than the value in the "Parcel Weight" field, the higher value will be used - and would need to be adjusted lower if necessary.

Having this be an option we can turn on in settings would be wonderful. For the locations who want to, they can turn it on and have dimensional weight auto-filled as soon as the weight, dimensions and shipping padding fields are set.
